We started at the Tijuana Yacht Club for dinner. They've got good food for good prices, a delicious (and very alcoholic) trashcan of liquor, and decent music at night. I was actually there for lunch too since I didn't know that I'd be heading back there later for dinner! Good thing I like Mexican food!
After that, we headed across the street to The Mansion. The only thing I knew about the place was that when John went there a week or two ago, he woke me up at 3am to tell me about how he got beat up by the bouncers, for no apparent reason. I didn't really believe that there was no reason, until I found out today that two or three other people from my class were also punched by bouncers, for no reason. So, the bouncers suck and should be arrested, but man is the place nice!! When you walk inside, it's like you step out of St. Maarten and into New York or something. The whole place wound up being filled with AUC students before the end of the night. It's a trade off, I guess; you might get your ass kicked for no reason, but you might have a good night in a really nice club.

I didn't even know there was a "Mansion" across from Tijuana YC. Will keep an eye out for the surly bouncers, however.
Well there's not a mansion, there's "The Mansion," which is just a nice looking club on the top floor of Dolphin Casino. It's up the stairway on the side of the casino.
That club is nothing impressive by club standards (...in Boston, NYC and Montreal, at least) and it is overpriced for what it offers. People who got punched by bouncers probably deserved it. This is speaking as a former bouncer of 3 years.
This club will shut down soon enough and the owners will take a loss for more than a few reasons.
Either way, I don't care about any clubs but I am tempted to go see Roger Sanchez at Bliss on Friday. Then again, I will be on the booze cruise on Saturday morning...so we'll see.
I was a bouncer too, at one of the clubs in Baltimore with a lower-quality population, and the people who got punched at Mansion did not deserve it. The only time a bouncer should be hitting anyone is if they are being attacked. And even then, they should be restraining if at all possible, not punching. And certainly, not punch a small guy in the face (when you're jacked) for no apparent reason. But, this is SXM, so nothing will happen, most likely.
